About the Recordings
The BBC recording was made in Cincinnati, Ohio from a Caribbean relay station on 49 meters (6 MHz). The four minute excerpt came from a 30 minute recording beginning before sunrise and running until after sunrise. A prototype Sherwood active antenna was fed through a Drake R-7 antenna splitter, with outputs to the two receivers. An Icom R-70 was used for the recording WITHOUT. The R-70 has a 6 kHz bandwidth filter which was center tuned (carrier in the middle of the passband). A Drake R-8 was used for the recording utilizing the SE-3, also using its 6 kHz filter. The signal was side tuned on the R-8 by placing the carrier on the edge of the filter, which can reduce interference and double the fidelity of the detected audio. The SE-3 allows side tuning of the signal, providing passband tuning on AM with any model receiver.

The two recordings made simultaneously were then produced to our Internet website using Real Audio Producer G2.
